Product Description: Extra-large tank washing assembly
Situation: A Bete customer wanted to wash the top of a 12′ (3.65 m) diameter tank while they introduced process water. The process water flow rate would be 300 gpm (1135 L/min) at 7 psi (0.48 bar).
Solution: Bete Application Engineers discussed the CLUMP tank washing nozzle that would have adequate coverage for this size of tank. However, because additional liquid had to be introduced to the tank, it was desired to get the maximum use out of this additional liquid by using it all to wash the tank. It was suggested that BETE install MaxiPass nozzles in the TH series Junction Box. The Junction Box is typically used in pond cooling and evaporative disposal applications, but is available in 316SS and can be used any time multiple outlets are needed. BETE quoted a 4″ Junction box with 4 – 2″ MP1125M as well as a 6″ Junction Box with 4 – 2½” MP1500W. Expanding on this concept, a CLUMP 1500 tank washing nozzle could be assembled that would have 720° coverage, flow 1900 gpm (7200 L/min) at 20 psi (1.38 bar) and have a rinsing diameter of 36 feet (11 m).
