Backflush Filters

Backflushing filters are fully automatic and cover a large range of sizes and pressures with either metal or GRP bodies

Principle of Operation:

• The element is manufactured from a perforated sheet with a mesh liner or from a single piece wedge wire.They clean automatically without interrupting the liquid flow using the pressure within the system.
• Spring loaded heads rotate around the inside of the basket. Heads are connected to a hollow central backwash shaft with backwash valve. The backwash valve, once open to the atmosphere, creates a reversal of flow across the filter element.
• Collected contaminant is flushed from the inside of the element, out through the backwash pipework. The cleaning cycle is initiated by an adjustable timer and overridden by high differential pressure.

Principle of Operation:

• Single piece element constructed from wedge wire.

Low Pressure Self-Cleaning Filters

Self cleaning filters for liquid duties requiring continuous filtration without interruption to the flow during the cleaning process.

Self cleaning filters are available in either manual or automatic versions with standard design options for either low pressure (14 BARG) or high pressure (35 BARG) system.

In operation the liquid enters the body and flows through the element from outside to inside.

Debris is collected on the outside of the wedge wire element, which is cleaned without flow interruption by rotating the cylindrical element against twin scraper blades.

The debris accumulated during element rotation is deposited into the bottom of the filter body from where it is periodically discharged, manually or automatically.

Activated Carbon Filters

Plenty Carbon Bed Filters are of vertical fabricated construction generally mounted on skids.

Works by the process of ‘absorption’ where one material adheres to another by means of physical or chemical attraction.The carbon media is extremely porous with a big internal surface area.

The carbon bed removes mainly organic compounds.

Features

• Performance depends on the compound structure, concentration and temperature.
• Less soluble compounds are most effectively removed.
• Flow enters the vessel via a flow distributor.
• Generally fluid flows from top to bottom with compounds absorbed as they pass through the bed.
• The bottom collector laterals gather the cleaned fluid.

Cartridge Filters

Cartridge filters are used for removing fine contaminant from liquid flow.

Principle of Operation:

• Cartridge filters are used for removing fine contaminant from liquid flows.
• Multiple (generally 10-200) high surface area cartridges are installed in single vessel.
• Cartridges are ‘pleated’ to give high filtration or wound for high temperature or chemical compatibility.
• Flow from outside-to-in with contaminant trapped on the outside surface of the cartridges.
• Available in many levels of filtration, pressure classes and materials.

Coalescer Filters

Coalescer Filters remove liquids from a gas stream with a single coalescing stage of elements.

Principle of Operation:
Coalescers remove liquids from a gas stream with a single coalescing stage of elements. The flow enters the vessel below the elements and passes through a flow distributor. This acts as a primary separation device removing coarse liquids by gravity. The flow passes through the coalescing cartridges in an inside-to-out flow direction. Liquids are coalesced through the structure of the element. These then settle by gravity and can be drained from the vessel.

Fabricated Duplex Filters

Fabricated Duplex Filter are an extremely compact design particularly suited to offshore applications.

Principle of Operation:
Extremely compact design particularly suited to offshore applications. Designed to give operation and standby facility within a single vessel. Interlocking changeover mechanism prevents complete flow shut-off. Very compact valve mechanism resulting in weight and space saving. Low pressure loss achieved by straight-through flow path with minimal changes in flow direction. A high surface area pleated screen with maximum effective filtration area is positioned directly in the flow path. Weight saving makes this particularly cost effective in higher alloys.

Dry Gas Filters – Horizontal & Vertical

Dry Gas Filters are designed to remove fine debris from a gas pipeline.

Principle of Operation:
Dry Gas filters are used to remove fine debris from a gas pipeline. Dry gas filters use disposable depth type cartridges to retain contaminant in the element structure. Cartridges are sleeve type with inner and outer support housings. Support housings are re-usable with only the sleeve part disposable.

Flow is inside-to-out with contaminant remaining inside the basket upon removal. Horizontal is most cost effective and maintenance friendly. Safety Interlocked quick opening closure gives quick access to the internals.

Hi-Flow Filters

• Plenty Hi-Flow Filters are custom designed for low pressure loss and high velocity applications.
• Custom designed for low pressure loss and high velocity applications such as pump suctions or meter protection duties where contamination levels are relative low.
• A straight through flow pattern and the use of vertical pleated screen gives resultant clean pressure drops much lower than conventional bucket type basket filters.
• Lightweight design can give significant commercial benefits especially on applications requiring high design pressures or exotic materials.

Temporary Strainers

Temporary strainers are specifically designed for the filtration of debris, in the protection of fluid and gas handling equipment during the commissioning and start up periods.

• Sizes range from 1″ up to 48″ and are suitable for bolting between ASME B16.5 Class 150, 300, 600 B.S10 and DIN standards for flat and raised face flanges.
• Also available for ring joint or tongued and grooved type flanges.
• An elongated signal arm is provided to give easy indication of the strainers location. Perforated strainers are available in a range of perforation sizes with 2mm diameter perforations as standard.
• Normal construction is mild steel sheets, to BS 1449, and stainless steel BS 970 but monel and other materials are available on request.
• For finer filtration stainless steel woven wire gauze to BS 970 is supplied spot-welded to the internal surface of the strainer, which ensures that they are completely supported.
• Mesh lining is available from 20 mesh (0.037 aperture) up to 80 mesh (.007″).
• If even finer degrees of filtration are requires inserts can be supplied in sizes down to 300 mesh (.002 aperture).

These operating efficiencies apply over the entire flow range from maximum design down to virtually zero flow.
